INSTALLATION ADVICE

INSTALLATION TIPS

The modular system of Artifence screens from the basic line enables assembly in-house. With some knowledge and skills and with the help of the right tools you can even tailor the screens. In the installation instruction drawings the working order is indicated in clear steps. If you choose to place and assemble yourself, take plenty of time to study the instructions carefully and also consult the extensive video instructions. Provide a good preparation for the workplace and follow our instructions carefully. This way you will not be faced with surprises later on. In general, you can build up a screen in just 3 phases.

PHASE 1

Places piles. During this phase, a line must be stretched from the start point to the end point of the screen setup. The end point can also be a corner post. During this phase, the first pile must be placed. Before the pole is placed, the supports must be mounted and, if necessary, a concrete anchor. When laying in the ground, a hole must be dug, then prepare the pile and pour concrete. When placed on concrete floors, holes will have to be pre-drilled to later secure the pedestal.

To avoid surprises, it is recommended to have the digital installation manual in a printed hard copy at the workplace. This allows you to identify the correct parts on the basis of the drawings and to assemble them correctly.

PHASE 2

After the first post is fixed and level, the second post can be released. First the intermediate frames are applied, which are the perfect template for the mutual pile distance, after which the second pile can be applied. It is important that you fit the frames tightly between the posts so that the glass fits well during the 3rd phase. After the second post is fixed, you can level the frames and secure them permanently. Make sure you have a good drill and that you work exactly. It is important that this is done well, because a badly drilled hole in a deviating size can cause problems.

PHASE 3

During this phase you can apply the glass lamellae. In connection with the application of self-adhesive foam strips between the glass and the frame, the conditions should be good (i.e., dry and reasonable temperatures). In the vertical configuration, the glass lamellae are placed in a fixed distribution between the bottom and top frame. In the horizontal configuration, the slats are mounted in a fixed layout between the posts. It is recommended to wear (glass) gloves. This gives your hands more grip and prevents slipping of the glass. Treat the glass with respect during assembly. Although the glass is so strong, it is at the same time most vulnerable during assembly. If you have done something wrong in the first phases that does not fit the glass properly, never use force to force the glass into the desired position. Glass may not be mounted under tension. In such a situation, it is best to check the pre-assembly again and to identify and rectify the previously made error. If you have assembled the frames during the first two phases, the glass will fit perfectly.

The modular system makes it possible to tailor the screens in-house. By omitting glass panels you can shorten the screens in steps of 21½ cm, allowing you to approach the desired total distance or the desired height. This does, however, mean that you have to shorten the profiles. This can be done in-house with an angle grinder. When using this type of tool, take precautions to protect your eyes and hands. If you want to have a perfect cut, then a special crosscut saw for aluminum is the right tool. You will have to consult a specialist for this.
